TRAINING BENCHMARK

As per the immigration laws, you must show that you have contributed to the training of Australian workers by providing evidence of meeting one of the training benchmarks. The training benchmarks is a system designed to ensure that while the immediate need of the businesses is met by hiring foreign workers, industry is grooming Australian workers as well.

In order for you to get an approval as a sponsor you have to fulfil one of the conditions below depending on the age of your business:

1. If your business is 12 months or older – Meet one of the training benchmarks. Or,
2. If your business is less than 12 months old – Submit an auditable training plan for your business.

Training Benchmark B:

Recent expenditure to the equivalent of at least 1% of the payroll of the business, in the provision of training to employees of the business who are Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents.
