This course describes the understanding, knowledge and skills required to be a volunteer.
COURSE STRUCTURE
This course is divided in 8 sections with questions posed at the end to reflect on learning. After successful completion of the course, learners will be awarded a certificate of course completion.
At the end of this course, learners would be familiar with the following:
- Develop understanding of the definition and principles of volunteering
- Explain the scope of the volunteering sector
- Develop understanding of the diversity and difference of clients/ customers
- Plan and develop recruitment, selection and induction policies and procedure
- Undertake appropriate screening, interviewing and selection processes
- Regularly review roles and performance and provide feedback to the volunteer
- Identify the rights and responsibilities of the volunteer and apply to work
- Discuss relevant policies and procedures and apply to work
- Apply understanding of the basic principles required for working effectively in a team
- Apply basic understanding of support structures available and how and when to access these
- Work within relevant legislation/ policies and procedures
