This course describes the skills and knowledge required to manage the performance of staff who report to them directly. Development of key result areas and key performance indicators and standards, coupled with regular and timely coaching and feedback, provide the basis for performance management.
COURSE STRUCTURE
This course is divided in 6 sections with questions posed at the end to reflect on learning. After successful completion of the course, learners will be awarded a certificate of course completion.
At the end of this course, learners would be familiar with the following:
- Confirming performance standards, code of conduct and work outputs with relevant teams and individuals.
- Designing performance management and review processes to ensure consistency with organizational objectives and policies.
- Monitoring and evaluating performance on a continuous basis.
- Providing informal feedback to staff on a regular basis.
- Advising relevant people where there is poor performance and take necessary actions.
- Providing on-the-job coaching when necessary to improve performance and to confirm excellence in performance.
- Documenting performance in accordance with the organizational performance management system.
- Reinforcing excellence in performance through recognition and continuous feedback.
- Monitoring and coaching individuals with poor performance.
