This course describes the knowledge and skills required by the worker to support clients to voice their opinions or needs and to ensure their rights are upheld.
COURSE STRUCTURE
This course is divided in 6 sections with questions posed at the end to reflect on learning. After successful completion of the course, learners will be awarded a certificate of course completion.
At the end of this course, learners would be familiar with the following:
- Assist client to identify their own needs and rights and to determine if their rights are being infringed or are not being met.
- Ensure information provided to clients about client rights and responsibilities is researched, relevant and timely.
- Initiate, negotiate and implement relevant strategies for addressing client needs.
- Ensure information is kept in confidence unless authorization is given to release it.
- Raise issues with the most appropriate person/ people in a way that upholds the rights and supports the reasonable expectations of the client.
- Identify and redress potential conflict of interest.
